Located in Dessau, Germany, The Bauhaus school was designed and founded by Walter Gropius who remained its director from 1919 - 1927. The Bauhaus movement occured at a time of political and cultural upheaval in Germany, which saw the school closed down in 1933 by the Nazi regime. Although the schools history was short lived it set the foundations for the minimalist style which still has a major impact of art and architecture around the world until this day.
